Q: Why can’t I log in to my TD account right now?
A: Accounts are not accessible from Friday, September 1, 2023 7:30pm CST, but will be active on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 4:00am CST through Schwab Alliance. Hang tight while Schwab works on the transition.
Q: How do I access my new accounts at Schwab?
A: If you have not yet set up login credentials with Schwab, and your TD login was not eligible to carry over, open a web browser and navigate to www.schwab.com. Hover over “Log In” in the upper right corner and select “Schwab Alliance.”

Next, select “New User?” and follow the prompts to set up your login credentials.

Q: I am having issues setting up my Schwab Alliance login
A: Username Requirements
- 1 letter
- At least 6 valid characters in length
- Cannot match or contain your Social Security Number
- Cannot contain special characters or symbols.
- Usernames are not case sensitive, but sometimes default to ALL CAPS. If you are having a hard time using credentials you just set up, try entering in the username with all capital letters.

Possible/Potential Actionable Tasks
- Because you will have a new account number, you will need to update direct deposits or payments (such as paychecks, Social Security checks, or other payments sent directly to your TD Ameritrade account) that you set up directly on a third-party platform like your bank.
- A change like this provides a great opportunity to review and update account linking or access you have granted to third parties, such as your accountant or attorney. Please review your account(s) and make sure the right people have access to your account(s).
- You will no longer have access to the Charts section or Message Center so, if you’re an active user of these features, please print them out for future reference.
